This energizing spirulina protein shake is by far the easiest spirulina smoothie to make.
Not only it takes 5 minutes to prep, its also made of durable ingredients that you can keep in your kitchen for whenever you run out of fruit.
The result is a creamy, sweet drink that is so rich it will keep you full for hours.
Ideally, you’d drink it first thing in the morning, either with your breakfast or instead of it.
Delicious Superfood Ingredients
1/2 cup Raw tahini
Tahini is a rich nutty butter made of sesame, which is very common to find in the Arab and middle eastern cuisine. It is rich in calcium and iron and mixes well with Spirulina.
There are many kinds of Tahini, made either of whole or white sesame. My personal favourite is Ethiopian sprouted sesame Tahini, which gives the best nutritional value, but if that’s not available where you are, plain white Tahini will also do the trick.
A handful of mashed dates
Taking each little kernel out one by one can be a daunting task, and if accidentally left in the mix, it can cause serious damage to your blender.
The solution: mashed dates! You can find it in health food stores or Arab/Middle eastern shops, where they are used to make the traditional Moroccan Ma’amoul cookies. Using dates this way also allows you to measure your quantities more easily.
Sometimes mashed dates will contain sugar for preservation. Try to look for the kind that is 100% dates, which are most healthy and taste the best.
1tsp Spirulina Powder
For best results, always use spirulina Network products.
You may also use fresh or frozen spirulina, if it is available to you.
Blend everything thoroughly with 1 cup of fresh water.
Et Voila!
